In this great country of ours, the subject of 'illegal immigration' seems to dominate the headlines and put it in a very negative light, but do we know who these immigrants really are? In the top photo above, hanging from right to left, you see a pregnant woman, her 19 year old sister, a college student, and the pregnant woman's husband. In the second photo, meet Carlos Gutierrez, who was fortunate enough to only have his feet chopped off in lieu of being hung or beheaded. All 5 of these innocent people were punished at the behest of drug cartels. Now let me give you another scenario...instead of people like these being refused refuge in "the land of the FREE and the home of the BRAVE", we could have given them a chance at the American Dream. We could have given them the opportunity to have risen to the ranks of Nada Kiblawi, a Palestinian refugee who owns the extremely successful firm of NJK Engineering Consultants in Virginia. Or Monica Phromsavanh, a refugee from Laos who owns the multi million dollar corporation ModaBox in New York. Or how about Raul Hector Castro, a Mexican immigrant who became the former governor of Arizona.

Included among tens of thousands of homeless adults, there are over 4,000 homeless youth in Pima County alone, which shares a border with Mexico. Unfortunately, these childern had to be abandoned by their parents who were deported in a futile attempt to save themselves and their families. Now I for one thank God every day that I was 'lucky' enough by 'pure chance' to be native-born in America and not in the oppressive regions of North Korea, Syria, South Africa, Mexico and the like, but to take that blessing for granted as we in this country sing "God Bless America" is a heartless act of arrogance considering what thousands of the innocent suffer throughout other repressive countries of the world that were not included in that song. There are many reasons why people are homeless, but fleeing for their lives is one of the most painful. HOMELESSNESS...WORKING ON A CURE!
